A Break–With Bonus sewing!

They say that “A break is as good as a rest” and I was very lucky to have both a break from routine and plenty of time to rest on my holiday this year. Living 200 miles from my parents means we try and spend as long up their each year as we can and the 2 weeks this year were nice, even if I feel no less refreshed coming home then I did going! That’s a health issue thing though, whatever it is I’ve got I’m having a bad flare up at the moment. My GP has finally agreed to refer me to the specialist to hopefully get to the bottom of it but it’ll be 6 MONTHS before I get the appointment. To say I’m gutted is an understatement, but I have to make my peace with it and wait and hope I can keep all the balls in the air till then.   When I was home I did some sewing on Mums machine. In 2010 I bought myself a cheap own brand sewing machine. I’d sewn a little for school and I was convinced I’d be able to muddle through. M’s Blanket

I finished something this week! My faith has been restored that I can actually finish something and I’m really looking forward to working on something different for a while. I always forget how much work there is to go into a blanket and this one was no exception. I’ve been working on this on and off since February according to this blog. While I’ve been here I finished squaring off around 3/4 of the circles. I then joined them by crochet; realised that that pulled them in too tight and had to pull it out and stitch them together. If i was at home i would have tried again with a larger hook but I didn’t have one with me. After that I edged the whole thing, there’s 1 row of UK treble crochet and then 2 rows of UK Linked Double Trebles. It creates a fabric not dissimilar to that of Tunisian crochet, but it’s worke

Quick Post

Hello all; a very quick post from me tonight as I’ve been feeling a little guilty. These few weeks in the summer always mark my internet absence. We visit my parents and usually my laptop never even makes it out of the bag. This year because I was treated to a new shiny one which is better than my old one or the other half’s laptop it’s been seeing a lot of action. OH has decided that he rather likes it and the way it runs his games including the new Civilisation expansion he’s been so desperately waiting for! With this in mind (and the tablet packed for me) I wanted to have a good go at crafting this holiday. As usual I exceeded my expectations somewhat and I know I will go home without starting some of the things I wanted too. On the way up I managed to get a few inches done on dad’s jumper and this week while I’ve had time and space I’ve really buckled down and concentrated on Nephews blanket. He turns 1 at the end of next month and what better present than a blankie from Aunti
