Awful Weather

 

It’s HORRIBLE here at the moment. Windy, Rainy and cold cold cold.

I’ve been crafting up a storm – 3 finished objects since I last blogged but sadly none I can show you. They’re all for friends who might possibly look at my blog so I’ll be able to post them when they’ve all received them.

The great news is that I am so very nearly done! We have some cash to get out of the bank and a few bottles of beer to buy next month and that’s it.

Well, and a load of bags to sew but who’s counting those? I managed to get all of them cut out today and 4 more sewn for a total of 7. Only 9 more to go, but now the tricky part is done I’m aiming to sew 2 or 3 a night which should mean I’m done by the end of the week.

Just so this isn’t a pictureless post I’ll show you two hampers I’ve made up for Christmas. This one is for Rhys’ Nanny G. It has Shortbread Biscuits, Posh Tea, a Foamburst shower gell, Scented Candle, Hot Chocolate Syrup, 2 knitted facecloths, a sewn bag, some fancy hand wash, a body puff and 2 small bottles of her favourite wine.

And one for my Gran. 2 crocheted face cloths, a sewn bag, some fancy hand wash, hot chocoate syrup, Chocolate shortbread, fancy tea, scented candle and two balls of wool.

All presented on some tissue paper in a nice basket. I’m just waiting for 1 more thing for each basket and then I’ll be finishing it off with some cellophane and it’s ready to go!

Corwin

  I was hoping I wouldn’t have to write this post for a while. I’d hoped at least not this side of Christmas; but he had other plans. Last Thursday Rhys came home from work to find him laid up in the cage, dehydrated and not interested in moving. Rhys tried tempting him with Peanut butter and he turned his nose up a it. Corwin… not accepting food meant it was a bad sign. A few weeks ago he’d started to loose movement in his hind quarters – as can happen in old rats. He was still moving around reasonably well; eating, drinking and snuggling and we agreed to take each day as it came. We took him to the vets that evening, and all agreed that the best thing to do for him was to let him go easily, peacefully and quietly in his sleep. Corwin came to us from SPA Vets in Gloucester. Thinking about 2017 goals!

I'm currently laid up with what we think is Slapped Cheek. Slapped cheek is a thing that kids get, and my bosses daughter had a case. When it affects adults it shows up as joint pain and swelling and flu like symptoms. Ouch. As a result I can't do much knitting or spinning or crochet. What else can I do but have a think about what my goals for 2017 should be? My goals for 2016 were fairly simple 80/20 Yarn used to yarn bought ratio (We’ll see how this goes!) Finish using 2015’s Wonderwool yarn before 2016’s WW (Faberge, Sunny Days Shawlette, Pink Topaz)  12 pairs of Socks in 2016  So I managed 2 and 3, and the less said about goal 1 the better I suppose. I must have added at least 100 skeins or balls of yarn to the stash this year. To be fair, I did go to Canada (where I bought lots of yarn) and have a fortuitous year with Wonderwool this year. March Goals

  I’ve been trying to write a recap of 2020 crafting for the last two months. It’s very odd that I’ve been stopping myself from writing other posts because I “must” recap what has honestly been one of the weirdest years in history. Not that my craft has been weird of course, but small acts like photographing everything felt overwhelming at times last year and I’m taking it as a personal success that at least things are recorded on Ravelry.   So I’m going to try a more regular check in, I’m currently working on a variety of WIPs and I’d love to aim for at least a monthly update on where they stand and new cast ons or ideas.   Current WIPS   Shine Shawl:   This is being worked in some yarn my parents bought for me as a Christmas present from their trip to Scotland in the few non-lockdown weeks we had last summer.
