A Very boring year of projects!

So last week I threw a hissy fit. It's not often I throw one (my other half is rolling on the floor laughing at the moment) but I had a good one. I'd cast on and ribbed my hat, then did 3 rows in the colour we'd chosen. Only to be told when I got to knit and natter that it was the wrong colour- so I picked back my 3 rows and I've not touched it since. To be honest I don't mind that I was wrong, and I'm thankful that it was only 3 rows in, but the way my mistake was taken my some members of the group was less than encouraging; and actually a little hurtful that some people take glee in your mistakes. Plus, y'know RUDE!

Instead, thankfully the yarn I'd promised to buy had come in. It's Rustic Super Chunky by James C Brett, they also do an Aran and a DK in the weight too. I'd promised I'd knit the other half a jumper in it, and available in the pattern support is a woman's hoodie. It's a square hoodie, no shaping so it's suitable for both men and women, though I lenthened the pattern a little for OH and could actually have lengthened it more. I'm working to get an F.O post up soon.

Luckily I managed to finish it on Friday, just an hour before the Olympic ceremony started. During the actual opening I got about 2 rows done- Far too busy watching the Wonderful Danny Boyles work of art. I'm happy to say I'm now a little further on. I've nearly completed my second row of triangles. I'm working tomorrow and Tuesday at the yarn shop- so I'll have plenty of time to work on it then. Only problem being as I'm working from my own pattern (which I hope to have written up soon!) I need to take my teapot with me; which will be amusing no doubt!

That's all for now, next time I will have some new photos to share with you guys!

UFYL Day 3-

Yesterday was a day off because I worked all day. The idea is to get the house to a stage where 20 mins a day in the dedicated room will do it; but we are not yet at that stage so I had a day off. OH did some laundry and attempted to scrub at a mould stain. Today- Bathroom, Spare Room and Cupboard Under the stairs.   Bathroom:   Before So to start off with grout got scrubbed. See the little white patch in the before? That was where I’d attacked it with baking soda about a week ago. As a result the bathroom was clean-ish but horribly cluttered. I got rid of any bottles that we didn’t use anymore, any face cloths that were damaged because they hadn’t been washed in a while (Note to self, next paycheck buy new ones- Ebay?) and just generally sorted. All surfaces got wiped down including the outside of the toilet bowl, the stem of the sink, the pipes behind the loo, the outside of the bath and the skirting boards. Emptied the bin, removed that POS “organiser” from a...

Staycation

Hello all! I’ve had a very busy weekend with my parents being down. While waiting for them to come down I got another 4 squares done on my sock yarn blanket. The left two are from a special mini skein I was given several years ago. I’m not entirely sure when I got given it, but it was a very small skein, probably under 20 yards. Just right to add into my blanket and serve as a reminder though! Saturday we went to Dyffryn gardens – A national trust property that they’re working on restoring. None of us are gardeners, but there was such a lovely selection – In the summer I’ll borrow more photos off my mum’s camera as I thought I’d forgotten mine for the start. Rhys was very enamoured by the cactus room. Sunday we were up and off an on. We went on some Segway’s at Chepstow diving centre, as we booked so late 9am was the only time slot, which was nice as we got to have the rest of the day to ourselves. Poor Mum fell off at the last bit (she’d misjud...

Corwin

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to write this post for a while. I’d hoped at least not this side of Christmas; but he had other plans. Last Thursday Rhys came home from work to find him laid up in the cage, dehydrated and not interested in moving. Rhys tried tempting him with Peanut butter and he turned his nose up a it. Corwin… not accepting food meant it was a bad sign. A few weeks ago he’d started to loose movement in his hind quarters – as can happen in old rats. He was still moving around reasonably well; eating, drinking and snuggling and we agreed to take each day as it came. We took him to the vets that evening, and all agreed that the best thing to do for him was to let him go easily, peacefully and quietly in his sleep. Corwin came to us from SPA Vets in Gloucester. This was our vets before we moved to Newport and one I would heartily recommend to anyone in the area. He’d wandered in through someone’s cat flap and realising (thank goodness!) that he was...
