F.O Lava Socks


I know- 3 days, 3 posts and 2 F.O’s.

These are very simple socks done for my other half. Knitted toe up using a short row toe- which I really liked and a Sweet Tomato heel, which I also really liked. I’ll knit in this style again I think; I do enjoy it for yarns that don’t self stripe. My next pair I’m looking forward to trying a short row toe and an afterthought short row heel in XXL Camel in order to keep the stripe sequence those will have. These though didn’t stripe, or even pool really and it was nice to keep the same yarn while concentrating on working the new techniques to me.

These socks do not photograph well off feet, but my OH has had such a day that I’m not making him model them for me tonight.

I’m eagerly awaiting the crochet book my sister bought me for my Birthday to get here so I can start on some socks for me in the Mexico my mum and dad bought me for my Birthday and a pair of socks for my other half in the Regia World Colour on the right

I completed what I wanted to for the day, which was to get up to the cable part on the commission hat. I’ve done the first 2 rows in the next colour which is a beautiful slate blue grey.

So now I’m casting on my Entrelac swatch for the Ravellenic games.

UFYL Day 3-

  Yesterday was a day off because I worked all day. The idea is to get the house to a stage where 20 mins a day in the dedicated room will do it; but we are not yet at that stage so I had a day off. OH did some laundry and attempted to scrub at a mould stain. Today- Bathroom, Spare Room and Cupboard Under the stairs.   Bathroom:   Before So to start off with grout got scrubbed. See the little white patch in the before? That was where I’d attacked it with baking soda about a week ago. As a result the bathroom was clean-ish but horribly cluttered. I got rid of any bottles that we didn’t use anymore, any face cloths that were damaged because they hadn’t been washed in a while (Note to self, next paycheck buy new ones- Ebay?) and just generally sorted. All surfaces got wiped down including the outside of the toilet bowl, the stem of the sink, the pipes behind the loo, the outside of the bath and the skirting boards. Staycation

Hello all! I’ve had a very busy weekend with my parents being down. While waiting for them to come down I got another 4 squares done on my sock yarn blanket. The left two are from a special mini skein I was given several years ago. I’m not entirely sure when I got given it, but it was a very small skein, probably under 20 yards. Just right to add into my blanket and serve as a reminder though! Saturday we went to Dyffryn gardens – A national trust property that they’re working on restoring. None of us are gardeners, but there was such a lovely selection – In the summer I’ll borrow more photos off my mum’s camera as I thought I’d forgotten mine for the start. Rhys was very enamoured by the cactus room. Sunday we were up and off an on. We went on some Segway’s at Chepstow diving centre, as we booked so late 9am was the only time slot, which was nice as we got to have the rest of the day to ourselves. Corwin

  I was hoping I wouldn’t have to write this post for a while. I’d hoped at least not this side of Christmas; but he had other plans. Last Thursday Rhys came home from work to find him laid up in the cage, dehydrated and not interested in moving. Rhys tried tempting him with Peanut butter and he turned his nose up a it. Corwin… not accepting food meant it was a bad sign. A few weeks ago he’d started to loose movement in his hind quarters – as can happen in old rats. He was still moving around reasonably well; eating, drinking and snuggling and we agreed to take each day as it came. We took him to the vets that evening, and all agreed that the best thing to do for him was to let him go easily, peacefully and quietly in his sleep. Corwin came to us from SPA Vets in Gloucester.
